Subway, bus to operate late on New Year’s Eve
AFTER drawing flak last year, the transport authority is ensuring New Year Eve revelers reach home by ordering city’s public transport to extend their services well beyond midnight.
Metro Line 1 and the main section of Line 2 between Xujingdong and Guanglan Road will run beyond their operation time for an extra 80 minutes on December 31, which will be welcomed by late night shoppers and revelers on New Year’s Eve.
The last train on Line 1’s Xinzhuang Station will depart at 11:52pm while on the opposite side the train will leave Fujin Road Station at 11:50pm.
On Line 2, the last trains will leave Xujingdong and Guanglan Road stations at 12:05am. During the extended hours, the train interval will be around 20 minutes. Commuters can interchange trains at People’s Square Station before 12:20am.
Public buses with terminals near Metro stations have been told to extend their service hours while taxi companies have been told to dispatch more vehicles to the Bund and Pudong’s Lujiazui area on the evening of December 31.
