Shanghai to escape Typhoon Hato

TYPHOON Hato is heading toward China’s coastal regions, but forecasters said it won’t affect Shanghai.

Hato, the 13th typhoon this year, is expected to make landfall in south China’s Guangdong Province tomorrow.

A sub-tropical high will continue to dominate the city’s weather, according to meteorological bureau officials.

Around noon yesterday, Shanghai was once again put on yellow alert for lightning, gales and rain.

Hourly precipitation recorded on downtown Xujiahui area reached 32.4 milliliters.

Residents are advised to heed the hourly forecasts as downpours are expected.
