Polluted air at weekend
SHANGHAI will encounter moderate air pollution over the weekend because of the heat and lack of wind, with ozone the major pollutant.
The city’s environmental monitoring center said today would be “slightly polluted” with the air quality index falling between 95 and 145.
By tomorrow, the AQI will rise to between 160 and 180, or “moderately polluted,” and that will persist until at least Sunday.
The density of ozone usually drops in the evening. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activities during the day.
