Pleasant conditions forecast

THE upcoming weeklong National Day holiday is expected to see pleasant weather for outings, with comfortable temperatures, though mostly cloudy skies, the local weather bureau said yesterday.

But forecasters predicted scattered drizzle and light smog on Thursday for the Chongyang Festival.

September will depart today with cloud and some showers and high temperatures of around 23 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures will range between 19 and 24 degrees on National Day tomorrow, while for the start of the Chongyang Festival, highs will be around 25 degrees.

However, it will later cool due to the arrival of a cold front next Monday.

The influence of high pressure will ensure it remains dry for most of the holiday week.

Yesterday was recorded as a moderately polluted day with the Air Quality Index (AQI) tipping 160.

The Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center has forecast that the air condition today will return to good.
