Nothing but rain on cards for 5 days

TODAY marks the start of five straight days of rain, if the local forecasters are to be believed.
The city should expect heavy rains and thunderstorms for the next five days, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.
Temperatures are likely to range from a low of 24 degrees Celsius to a high of 31 degrees today and tomorrow, with the high falling to 28 or 29 degrees in the early part of next week.
Under the influence of subtropical high pressure, the mercury rose to 31 degrees at noon yesterday. It was the first time it had surpassed the 30-degree mark for more than a week due to the cooling effect of the recent rain.
Today is also the start of chushu, the solar term that translates as “end of the heat.” But according to the meteorological bureau’s definitions, fall has yet to arrive, and will do so only when the mean daily temperature is below 22 degrees for five straight days.
Yesterday’s PM2.5 density fell to 30 micrograms per cubic meter from 80 on Thursday.
