Hot in the city, but a bit wet too

A warm but cloudy weekend is in store, with the mercury set to rise to 20 degrees Celsius today and 22 degrees tomorrow, forecasters said yesterday.

The hot spell is expected to peak at 24 degrees on Tuesday, though there is likely to be some rain in the meantime, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

The showers should start tomorrow night and linger through Monday, when the mercury will hover between 12 and 18 degrees.

The rest of next week will see a mixture of sun and showers, so people should prepare for all possibilities and dress accordingly, said Man Liping, a chief service officer at the bureau.

The air quality is expected to be good to slightly polluted today, with PM2.5 particles being the major pollutant, the Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center said.
