57 extra trains for the holiday
SHANGHAI Railway Bureau will run 57 additional return services during the duanwu holiday next week to handle increased passenger traffic.
This year’s Duanwu, or Dragon Boat Festival, falls on June 9.
The bureau plans to add the trains on popular routes from June 8 to 11 — for the June 9-11 holiday — including 39 more bullet trains. The trains will service destinations including Beijing, Hefei, and cities in neighboring Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.
Over 1.3 million passengers are expected to take trains from the three major railway stations in Shanghai during the holiday. The peak day is expected to be June 9, when an expected 443,000 passengers will be traveling.
