Separated twins doing well, doctors say

The conjoined twin girls who were separated during a lengthy operation nine days ago at Shanghai Children's Medical Center have been transferred from intensive care to an ordinary ward because they are recovering well, hospital officials said today.

Doctors said the 10-month-old girls can breath on their own and the risk of infection is now low.

They shared a liver and part of the heart sac when they were born.
