Mediation in hospital, neighbors dispute

YANGPU District government said it is helping in negotiations between residents and a private hospital in their residential community following complaints of noise, disturbance caused by ambulances and fears about disease and medical waste.

Residents at the No.1 Residential Community on Guohe Road have questioned why the private Wooridul Spine Hospital was allowed to be located in the neighborhood.

Health officials with the district said the hospital is a legal health facility and there are no regulations banning it from being in the community.

“The dispute about ambulance and noise should be solved through proper communications between residents and the hospital,” said Qiang Ruijuan from the Yangpu District Health and Family Planning Commission.

Residents said their daily life is affected and want the government to help find a solution.

“Their air conditioners cause a lot of noise, ambulances block the way and we’re concerned about whether there are patients with infectious diseases here and whether medical waste is disposed of properly,” a resident surnamed Dong said.
