Hypertension program launch
A nationwide hypertension measurement and education program was launched in Shanghai yesterday — World Hypertension Day.
Led by experts from Ruijin Hospital, May Measurement Month Campaign, is a part of a global activity to examine 25 million people in 100 countries over the month. China will account for 2.5 million of that total.
“We will do blood pressure measurements for 2.5 million people, who haven’t been measured for a year,” said Dr Wang Jiguang, head of Shanghai Hypertension Research Institute, which is based in Ruijin Hospital.
“We will choose 10 measurement spots in every 100 counties, towns and districts in the nation and fulfill the entire task within 25 days.”
