Fudan teams up with Minhang to further health care reform
Fudan University teamed up with Minhang District yesterday to set up a health care unit to further explore reforms like patient transfers, medical insurance payments and doctors working at more than one medical facility.
Residents in Minhang District will have better access to hospitals affiliated to Fudan University, which will do clinical research and health care studies on chronic and infectious diseases based on the district's big database and genetic technologies.
“It is the nation's first such arrangement based on the international concept of an academic health system,” said Gui Yonghao, vice president of Fudan University. “We want to work out a new public service format to make things more convenient for patients as well as furthering health care reform.”
All Fudan hospitals will cooperate with medical facilities in the district on talent training, employment and patient transfers. Fudan University experts will train general practitioners for the district.
Also, a new dental hospital affiliated to Fudan University will be built in Minhang.
