Van Gogh Alive to visit city next year

VAN Gogh Alive, a multi-sensory traveling exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the eponymous Dutch artist, will spend four months in Shanghai next year, its organizers said yesterday.

According to its producers, Australia-based Grande Exhibitions, the show features more than 3,000 images and promises to “immerse visitors in the artists’ world.”

It will run from April 28 to August 30 in an “Art Castle” to be erected on Taiping Lake in the Xintiandi area of the city. The event will coincide with the Shanghai International Arts Festival.

The audio-visual show will feature projections of Van Gogh’s famous paintings, such as “Still Life: Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers,” “The Starry Night” and “The Café Terrace at Night,” as well as symphonies composed around the same time, its organizers said.

Vincent Van Gogh lived from 1853 to 1890.

Tickets to the Shanghai event are priced at 80 yuan (US$13) per person.
