Taipei forum, a bridge between cities

THE Taipei-Shanghai Forum will be held from August 22 to 23 in Taipei, officials announced yesterday.

A delegation led by Sha Hailin, representative of Shanghai mayor Yang Xiong, will visit Taipei to attend the forum, an annual event held in rotation in the two cities since 2010. With the theme of “showing city vitality,” this year’s event will focus on youth communication, health, smart city technology, culture and traffic to further strengthen relations between Shanghai and Taipei, the Taiwan affairs office of the Shanghai government said.

During the event, the two cities will also sign memorandums of understanding on cooperation in sports, film and television, as well as community governance, said the office.

Launched in 2010, the annual forum has been an important communication platform for the two cities.

Shanghai and Taipei have broadened their cooperation with each other by signing 23 agreements, according to the office.

In addition to the governmental event, an exhibition will be held in Taipei from August 23 to 27 showcasing the work of young designers from the Shanghai and Taipei artistic communities.
