Park the plum spot for viewing blooms

THE Shanghai Plum Blossom Festival gets under way today at Haiwan Forest Park in suburban Fengxian District, its organizers said yesterday.

The annual event — the third since its launch in 2014 — will feature about 40,000 plum trees in 126 varieties. Over the course of the festival, which ends on March 31, visitors will also be able to take part in a photo contest and watch a cheongsam fashion show.

Admission to the park costs 80 yuan (US$12.25) for adults and 40 yuan for children.

Weekend visitors can take advantage of a free shuttle bus service that will run every 30 minutes between the park and Shendu Highway station on Metro Line 8.

The attraction also has a huge car park with space for 7,800 vehicles.
