‘Night Peacock,’ a Sino-French venture, is set for mainland release next month
THE Sino-French romantic film “Night Peacock” is slated for release in China's Chinese mainland on May 20.
The film is the latest production of novelist and director Dai Sijie, who is adept at telling stories with cross-cultural appeal.
Dai’s previous film “Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress” was nominated for a Golden Globe award for best foreign language film in 2003.
Set in Chengdu and Paris, “Night Peacock” tells the romantic love stories between a Chinese-French girl with men in two different cities.
Starring Liu Yifei, Liu Ye and Leon Lai, the film highlights the independence and courage of modern Chinese women. It was screened at the Busan International Film Festival last year.
