More helicopter flights set for takeoff next week

AN aviation company will next week become the second in the city to offer sightseeing flights by helicopter.

The new service will be operated from the Zhengyang Helipad in the Pudong New Area, with the first flights set to takeoff on Friday, Labor Day, operator Kingwing General Aviation Co said yesterday.

The East China Civil Aviation Administration of China has inspected the helipad and assessed the company’s capabilities and given them both the green light, an unnamed official told Shanghai Daily.

A Kingwing employee surnamed Liu said the flights will last between five and 20 minutes, though he declined to say how much they will cost.

Shanghai KaiJet General Aviation was last month given approval to provide the first helicopter pleasure flights.
