Major activities lined up for fest

A HOST of activities have been lined up in various districts for the annual Shanghai Tourism Festival, which begins from Saturday and runs until October 6 this year.

Among them is the Shanghai Cruise Ship Tourism Festival, organized by Baoshan District.

The 20-day activity, which starts on September 16, will include issuing nine stamps featuring the Yangtze River and cruise ship tours. District authorities will also hold a photo contest, a summit on cruise ship economy, and tours of the Wusong Port.

Elsewhere, the Guyi Garden will host a bamboo festival. At stores in the Yuyuan Garden, visitors can try out traditional arts like lantern making, cooking steamed buns and spiced beans, and creating hairpieces.

A 3D dancing light show will be held on Waima Road in Huangpu District from September 14 until October 23.

The Fuxing Art Festival will rock with music concerts inside the Xiangyang Park in Xuhui District on Saturday and Sunday.

Street artists will be the major draw around Fuxing Rd W. this weekend while galleries, restaurants, bars and cafes have been invited to create 20 sculptures with the theme “Fuxing cat” mascot.

Xuhui Binjiang area will also hold a music festival on October 5 and 6.
