Local museum to attend Milan Expo
SHANGHAI World Expo Museum will have an independent pavilion at Expo 2015 in Milan, Italy.
The museum, which is still under construction and due to open next year, will be the only official Expo museum authorized by Bureau International des Expositions.
Officials at the museum said the pavilion will be a two-story building covering about 500 square meters. It will tell the story and predict the future of the Expo, and review Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
China will be the largest exhibitor at Expo 2015, with four pavilions already agreed. Among them will be a corporate pavilion commissioned by the Shanghai government, which will for the first time gather Chinese companies and brands under one roof at a World Expo in a foreign country.
Several Shanghai companies have confirmed their presence, including Baosteel and Shanghai Electric.
Authorities in Shanghai and Milan said they will also have a joint pavilion in the city center of Milan to promote Italian and Chinese fashion brands, culture and design businesses.
Stefano Mologni, president of the City Pavilion, said he is in contact with companies from Shanghai and will name them soon.
Italy’s national airline Alitalia said it will provide direct flights between Milan and Shanghai during the Expo, which will run from May 1 to October 31.
