Iranian film takes Asian Talent prize
IRANIAN movie “13” by director Hooman Seyedi was yesterday named Best Film at the Asian New Talent Awards at the Shanghai International Film Festival.
The film tells the story of a 13-year-old boy called Bemani who while trying to come to terms with his parents’ divorce meets a girl named Sami and embarks on an adventure with her and her two friends.
Ali Tabrizi won the Best Cinematographer award for the same movie.
The Best Director gong went to Momoko Ando for “0.5mm.” The judges spoke highly of her skill in telling “a unique and original story that resonates in today’s world.”
Eddie Cahyono won the Best Scriptwriter award for “SITI,” while the Best Actress award went to 9-year-old Yangchen Lhamo for “River.”
Sean Huang was named Best Actor for “(Sex) Appeal.”
