Holiday complaints to watchdog down 45%
CITY tourism authorities received 40 complaints over the National Day holiday week — a drop of 45 percent on the same period last year.
The bulk of these concerned online travel operators including Ctrip, Tuniu and Lvmama, said the Shanghai Tourism Administration.
Grievances included the cancelation of booked tours, accommodation disputes and tour guide service, said the tourism watchdog.
Ctrip was the subject of 10 complaints, including the cancelation of tours to Yunnan and Hainan provinces.
And some disgruntled tourists said the number of scenic spots they saw at Huangshan — Yellow Mountain — in neighboring Anhui Province, was fewer than advertised.
Tuniu received complaints about tour guide service and accommodation quality in neighboring Zhejiang Province, said officials.
Lvmama had two complaints regarding accommodation and ticketing disputes.
Scenic spots like the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Yuehu Sculpture Park and Qibao Water Town also drew the ire of tourists for service problems or ticketing refund disputes.
