Director Cristian Mungiu to chair Golden Goblet Award jury panel

ROMANIAN Director Cristian Mungiu will chair the jury panel for the Golden Goblet Award of the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival, it was announced today. 
 
Mungiu, whose credits include "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days" and "Graduation," will chair the panel for the main competition. Other juries include Chinese director Cao Baoping, Chinese screenwriter Li Qiang, US/Macedonian film maker Milcho Manchevski, Japanese director SABU, American producer Gary Michael Walters and Chinese actress Xu Qing.
 
The juries for the documentary category include Finnish documentary film maker Iikka Vehkalahti, Japanese documentary film maker Kazuhiro Soda and Chinese documentary director Du Haibin. In the animation category, American animation director Tony Bancroft, Japanese animation director Junji Kobayashi and Chinese screenwriter Yuan Mei will be the judges.
 
The festival's organizing committee also released the first batch of eight nominated movies for the main competition, including Japanese film "Reminiscence," American film "Brigsby Bear," Romanian film "Fault Condition," Polish film "I'm A Killer," Russian film "Kharms," British film "Mad to be Normal," German film "My Brother Simple" and Hong Kong film maker Ann Hui's epic film "Our Time Will Come." Hui's movie will also be the opening film of the fest.
 
This year's festival received a record 2,528 film entries from 106 countries and regions. Among them, more than 400 movies will be selected to constitute the list of Film Panorama and some of them will be shortlisted for various sections of Golden Goblet Awards. 
 
Also, a new "Short Films" category has been created, which attracted a big number of submissions.
