Construction completed on Disney Metro extension

CONSTRUCTION was completed on the Metro line extension that will connect Shanghai Disney Resort to the city's subway network and test operations are expected to begin next year, Shanghai Shentong Metro Group said today.

The final beam, weighing 190 tons and measuring 35 meters, was put in place over the weekend and a total of 12.3 kilometers of rail has been laid. The installation of equipment will now begin on the three Disney line stations.

To serve the theme park, Metro Line 11 will extend from Luoshan Road Station to Disney, with stations at Kangqiao Road E and Hengxin Road in between.

Disney station will be partly underground and surrounded by an artificial lake, trees and shrubs.

Line 11 will also feature several trains decorated with Disney characters and backdrops.
