Lingang to have carbon college

A China-UK Low Carbon College is to be set up to cultivate talents to tackle the challenge of climate change.

Lingang Area Development Administration signed a contract with Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Edinburgh to establish the college.

Located in Lingang area, the college will act as a low-carbon practice base as well as being a key player for realizing Shanghai’s ambition to become a global economic, financial, trading, international shipping and technology innovation center.

The college will provide academic programs, executive training, scientific research and industrial incubation.

Its first class of 30 master’s degree students from across China will start studying in the autumn.

The students will study one year at Jiao Tong and another year at the University of Edinburgh.
