Harvard University rated the best by ‘π Index’ developed by city scientists for academic performances evaluation
Local scientists developed a new science index—productivity index, also known as “π Index”, to evaluate academic performance and capacity of global research institutions in life and basic medical sciences.
This index, which considers both impact of paper writers and journals, aims to objectively reflect the status quo of all research institutes’ paper output and evaluate each institute’s science research achievement, quality and contribution, said experts from Shanghai Information Center for Life Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The center selected 119 journals in the field as data sources and studied papers published by the journals last year to work out the p Index.
Among the top 100 institutions with the highest index, 48 ones are in the United States, among which, Harvard University has the highest p Index value.
The index was published at bm.pi-index.com.
