Elite Chinese high-school students attend Harvard lectures

About 350 elite high school students from across China yesterday began a conference set up by the Harvard College Association for US-China Relations to get a taste of the prestigious university’s teaching style.

The students will take seminars taught by Harvard students and attend lectures given by celebrities and a Harvard professor. Topics range from morality in a digital age, the history and ethics of modern biotechnology and a discussion of feminism and its impact.

Former NBA star Yao Ming will give a lecture at 2pm tomorrow at Shanghai High School while Harvard Admissions Officer Kanoe Williams will give a speech at 3:30pm on Sunday.

Thirty participants will be invited to visit Harvard University for 10 days in November.
