Vocational school official says girls videotaped beating up another for love dispute will be punished

A vocational school student was bullied by her schoolmates over disputes related to puppy love, Shanghai Television Station reported yesterday evening.

It occurred at 3pm last Wednesday in a residential complex near the Shanghai Pharmaceutical School. But it didn't trigger the public attention until video clips went viral on the Internet yesterday.

Videos showed about five to six girl students beat, slapped and kicked another girl, who fell to the ground and cried out: “Sorry, It’s my bad.” Other several girls used their mobile phones to document the scenes, and no one tried to stop them.

Mao Yanping, vice-principal of the school, confirmed the girls were their students, it reported.

“We found the girl who was beaten up had love affair with a boy student, and thus the boy’s girlfriend called her friends to teach the girl a lesson,” Mao said.

The girl is fine now, and the bullies would be severely punished, it reported.

About 3,700 students study at the school , and many of them are girls.
