VR technology to make highlight for upcoming local film festival
In addition to films of varied genres and styles, the upcoming 19th Shanghai International Film Festival, to be held from June 11 to 19, will also display the latest technology and trend of VR (virtual reality) with a VR exhibition as a program of the festival's Internet Film Carnival.
The VR exhibition will feature around 30 VR short movies from home and abroad. Visitors can put on 3D VR glasses to have special experience of flying or swimming in the sea. They can also have face-to-face talk with VR professionals.
Mainland actress Tao Hong will also star in the film festival's first-ever VR concept promotional video. Tao participated in the video's shooting today.
"It is a good chance to promote for this interesting technology," Tao says. "Audiences will get immersed in the videos and know more about its increasing role in film production and video games."
