Show of light and shadow

THE Magic Light Fun Park opens at the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Radio and TV Tower today, inviting tourists into a magic world of light and shadows.

The park features 16 pieces of interactive and multimedia artwork, allowing visitors to change and control the movement of light and shadows, sound and colors.

One interactive work features the scene of Van Gogh’s master piece "Night cafe." At the cafe, visitors will see themselves out of the control of gravity in the mirror if they sit, stand or make different poses with the application of light and shade reflection principle.

Another display called "Pixel Forest" takes visitors on a magic journey of fairy tales. Taking an electronic book, visitors will read more than 10 fairy tale stories such as "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Snow White" with different pictures appearing on the book suddenly if they walk into certain areas.

The 3D virtual reality classic art show of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" takes spectators into the scenes of the painting with the starry sky above their head.

The light and shadow extravaganza applies a number of technologies like 3D mapping stereographic projection, infrared sensing, virtual reality and unmanned aerial vehicle programming.

From August 11, unmanned aerial vehicle ballet performances will be introduced into the park.

Covering 3,000 square meters, the park will run through October 8. Admission is 60 yuan (US$8.8).
