Shanghai reports human H7N9 case
An 86-year-old Shanghai resident was confirmed to be infected with H7N9 bird flu, Shanghai Health and Family Planning Commission said this morning.
The male patient surnamed Zhou has been hospitalized for treatment since yesterday.
The H7N9 strain was first reported in humans in February on China’s mainland, and infected at least 139 people in the mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong, killing more than 40 people.
