Precious Party archives make a public debut

SHANGHAI Municipal Archives yesterday put on display 100 original archives about the history of the Communist Party of China. Most of them are being released to the public for the first time.

The exhibit includes a collection of early newspapers and publications of the Party as well as photos, leaflets, coins and armbands used in the 1930s. Many of the newspapers and publications were handwritten and published secretly.

Precious exhibits that are publicized for the first time include the original Red Army Newspaper, coins and notes issued by the Chinese Soviet Republic, a provisional government led by the CPC and photos about the revolutionary activities of Chinese students, said Zhu Jihua, curator of the archives. Many exhibits were collected from local district-level archives as well as Fudan, Jiao Tong and Tongji universities, he said.

The exhibition, which runs to May 17, is being held on the ground floor of the archive at 9 Zhongshan Road E. It is open to the public from 9am to 5pm daily except Sundays.
