Norwegian PM kicks off Norway Day in Fudan University

THE Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg visited the School of Management of Fudan University to kick off its Norway Day carnival over the weekend.

It was her first stop on her visit to China.

“I am very pleased to start in a ‘piece of Norway in Shanghai,’ and most importantly, to see the close ties that BI Norwegian Business School and Fudan University School of Management have forged since 1996,” she said.

The Norway Day was the inaugural activity of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Fudan’s pioneering collegiate business education in China.

Fudan chose “Norway Day” to start the celebration because the BI-Fudan MBA Program was the management school’s first international joint degree program, said Xu Ningsheng, president of Fudan.

The program was ranked No.39 globally in the Financial Times EMBA ranking last year.

Solberg praised the BI-Fudan MBA Program as a successful story in bilateral exchanges between China and Norway.

“In the bilateral relationship between Norway and China, education is one of the areas where cooperation has been strongest,” she said. “The BI-Fudan educational program represents the best of Sino-Norwegian cooperation in this field. It has built common ground for two schools, two countries, and two peoples.”

Besides the fun activities, including performance, Nordic games and food, the carnival also provided lectures about Norway innovation and exhibition of Norwegian corporations.
