Nenjiang Road to become a new local traffic artery

NENJIANG Road in Yangpu District will become one of the main arteries connecting traffic on both banks of the Huangpu River and ease traffic congestion after a new road construction project, officials said.

The involved road section, between Zhayin Road and Shijie Road, will be connected to Yingao Road, according to a recently released plan. After the connection, the road can link the New Jiangwan area and middle of Yangpu District, as motorists have to take detour when riding between the two areas due to a lack of artery road in between.

The involved section stretches 1,125.84 meters, according to the plan. It is expected to be a four-lane road, with a design speed of 50 kilometers an hour.

Moreover, the road will also stretch to the planned Nenjiang Road Tunnel, the second tunnel crossing Huangpu River in the district, making the passage an important artery running through four districts--Pudong New Area, Yangpu, Baoshan and Jing'an districts. After the connection, riders can drive from Baode Road directly to Pudong through the new tunnel.
