Mystery animal reportedly slaughters 64 chicken and ducks in suburban Pudong

Villagers in suburban Pudong New Area are in a shock after a mysterious animal mauled and killed 64 chicken and ducks on Monday night.

The residence, located in Xuanqiao Town, is close to Shanghai Wild Animal Park, Shanghai Television Station reported today.

“I had 23 ducks and 12 chickens – all dead. My neighbor lost 29 chickens,” a resident, surnamed Lin, told STV, adding he was shocked by what he saw when he went to feed the chickens in the morning.

There were feathers, flesh, scattered on the ground. The iron fences were knocked down, and a hole, as big as a soccer ball, was found on another guarding net, Lin said.

According to the footprints spotted on the ground, it was a webfeet animal with four toes on each foot.

The villagers said it could not have been done by dogs, as the footprints did not match.

“And when dogs bite, the wounds are small. This animal’s bites are rather big,” another villager said.

The villagers were worried as the animal has still not been found. They fear that it could attack humans next.

Shanghai Wild Animal Park claimed that no animal was missing from the park.

Police are continuing with their investigation.
