Mercedes-Benz dazzling under spotlight at Auto Shanghai 2015

MERCEDES-BENZ, along with its Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-AMG sub-brands, joined smart in taking the stage at Auto Shanghai 2015 with a line-up of 46 vehicles.

“Following strong results for Daimler in China, we have even more confidence in our long-term strategy in the Chinese market. In 2015, Daimler will build on our comprehensive strengths and advantages in product technology to continue developing the market. By becoming closer to consumers, we will carry through with our China commitment,” said Mr. Hubertus Troska, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Greater China.

Leading the way at Auto Shanghai was the sleek Concept GLC Coupé, which made its world premiere with a combination of modern luxury and exquisite craftsmanship. Joining it was the futuristic F 015 Luxury in Motion, which gave attendees a glimpse into the future of autonomous driving.

As for production vehicles, the newest star of the automaker’s locally-produced range, the All New GLA SUV, also took the spotlight while officially hitting the market. The hotly-anticipated vehicle arrives in Shanghai with 5 model variants including the GLA 200, GLA 220 4MATIC, and GLA 260 4MATIC, and has been designed to fully meet the needs of Chinese customers with its impressive array of features. “As another of our iconic ‘Made in China, for China’ products, the locally produced GLA SUV has given us great reason for optimism,” said Mr. Troska. “It not only further strengthens Mercedes-Benz’s locally produced vehicle family, but also represents another milestone in the sincere cooperation between Daimler and BAIC. We are fully confident that we will significantly exceed our goal of selling more than 300,000 vehicles by the end of 2015.”

In order to further meet the requirements of young consumers, Mercedes-Benz also unveiled the All New C-Class Sport. Stately and dynamic, the vehicle boasts a standard wheelbase of 2840 mm and the smallest turning circle in its segment, measuring in at just 11.22 meters. Also launching was the locally-produced All New C 200 L 4MATIC Sedan and Sport Sedan, which took the stage alongside the locally-produced standard wheelbase C-Class Sport. Rounding out a stellar day for the C-Class was the ever comfortable C 200 Estate, which made its debut to give C-Class customers additional flexibility.

Not to be outdone, the legendary Mercedes-Benz SUV family began a new chapter with the market premiere of the GLE Coupé, which combines coupé -inspired sportiness with SUV versatility, while three members of the Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrid family joined each other for Auto Shanghai — the S 500 e L, GLE 500 e 4MATIC, and C 350 e L. Spanning the automaker’s, S-, SUV, and C-Class ranges, they bring fans a brand new solution for clean and efficient mobility.

On the performance side, the exciting Mercedes-AMG GT S and Mercedes-AMG C 63 S were on hand to bring fans the utmost experience of AMG’s “Driving Performance”, while the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Crazy Wild Limited Edition boasted its wild side with a host of new eye-catching colours.

Closing out the extravaganza was none other than the new smart fortwo, whose avant-garde redesign, world-class agility, and all around safety are ready to bring fans a new urban joy.

“Continuing our strong momentum, Mercedes-Benz is taking our 2015 sales in China to the next level with first quarter growth of 18 percent,” said Mr. Nicholas Speeks, President & CEO, Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service Co. Ltd. “We will continue to fulfill our commitment to China with the best products and the best service, so that the excellence of the three-pointed star reaches even more Chinese consumers.”
