Man held for chucking signboard on subway

A MAN surnamed He, 23, has been detained for throwing a signboard onto the tracks at Luoshan Road Station on Metro Line 16 on August 24, police said yesterday.

He told police he did it to vent his frustration as he was unable to find a job. He was caught on Friday and is in criminal detention.

Meanwhile, a woman was found selling fruits in a carriage on Metro Line 11 yesterday, according to pictures posted online by a witness. The pictures showed the woman sitting on a stool close to the train door with two baskets and selling pomegranates and figs.

Metro authorities said selling fruits is not allowed on the network and violators face fines.
