Longer cruise vacations to sail out of Shanghai

ROYAL Caribbean International will prolong its cruise trip duration and add nine new destinations including Tokyo, Kyoto and Boracay next year, it announced in Shanghai as it released its development strategy for 2018 and 2019.

Cruise liners of Royal Caribbean will continue to make Shanghai, Tianjin, Hong Kong and Shenzhen as their home ports in China in 2018, and more seven or eight-night cruise trips will be launched compared with the current four to five nights, the cruise line giant said.

New destinations will include several Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, Kobe, Osaka, Yokohama, Nagoya, and two cities in the Philippines: namely Manila and Boracay.

Royal Caribbean is also designing and building a series of new luxury cruise ships, which will represent the top cruise ship design and construction, and they are expected to hit the China market in 2019, it said.

In summer, Royal Caribbean will provide a package of royal suite services for tourists on four cruise ships in China, which will include exclusive VIP services and resting areas with glass dome and panoramic sea views.

It has two cruise ships making Shanghai home port, the Quantum of the Seas and Mariner of the Seas.
