Husband tracks down wife in town, chops off her hand and fingers in domestic dispute

A 28-year-old woman, working in Shanghai, who had her left hand completely chopped off by her husband yesterday in an alleged domestic violence, is receiving an emergency surgery at a local hospital, Shanghai Television reported.

The non-local woman said she had moved to Shanghai and found a job to avoid her husband. The couple had long been in a terrible relationship, according to the woman.

The husband, in his 40s, came and found his wife yesterday and during a dispute, he slashed off the woman's left hand and also continued on to chop off several fingers from the bloody palm.

The woman reportedly described her husband as a person who appeared to be kind but actually had an "extreme personality inside”. He had been texting his wife to threaten her but the woman did not realize the situation could finally turn into a true nightmare.

Doctors, shocked by the cruelty of the attack, said the victim was covered all over in blood when she arrived at the hospital but instead of crying while being helped, she said to them that her husband once threatened her "I will destroy you even at the cost of going to jail. No one would want you even after I was released. I shall destroy you and take care of you a whole life."

The man has been detained by police. The victim, who had no relative in town, had to ask a colleague to help her through with the hospitalization procedures.

"She's a kind person. She just gave a smile to get it go even others bullied her," the co-worker reportedly said.

It's unclear yet whether the surgery would successfully restore her hand and fingers.

The couple had a child or children, Shanghai Television Station reported.
