Here starts a sizzling week with the mercury expected to hit 38 degrees

A sizzling week brought by the summer heat wave is expected ahead this week and the maximum temperature is likely hit 38 degrees Celsius, forecasters said.

All the week days are forecast with a high exceeding 35 degrees and marked as high temperature days.

The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued a yellow heat wave alert at 9am this morning and upgraded it to an orange one at 12:11pm, expecting a 37-degree high today. By 11am, most districts saw their mercury topping 35 degrees and benchmark Xujiahui weather station recorded its temperature as 35.7 degrees, 2 to 3 degrees higher than the same time yesterday. The district highest 37.3 degrees is found in the Pudong New Area.
