Ex-convict sent back to prison for hacking into dozens of bank accounts

A 25-year-old ex-convict was sentenced to 14.5 years in prison and deprived of his political rights for 4 years for stealing 3.21 million yuan (US$522,000) by hacking into dozens of bank accounts, People's Court of Pudong New Area ruled this morning.
Wang, a Shandong Province native, rented private servers and networks to plant Trojan horse programs into computers. The programs ran automatically when victims paid bills.
A total of 3.21 million yuan from 98 victims’ accounts was transferred into Wang's online game account between November 2012 and January 2013. He used the money to purchase game cards and virtual gold coins, the court said.
He then sold the game cards to other players to buy cellphone charge cards, which he also sold. He then exchanged the money into Thai baht with the help of people in Thailand.
Thai police detained Wang on January 14, 2013.
Wang served a 14-month prison sentence for hacking into Shanghai's car plate auction system with a partner in July 2009, forcing the auction to be canceled. He was released in October 2010, said the court.
