Documentary highlights China’s role in Allies’ WWII victory

"Report From Yan'an," a documentary film shot from the perspective of military leaders, journalists and government officials of the US and UK during World War II, will air on the Documentary Channel over the weekend.

The film provides insight into the war and shows how China plays a major role in the Allies' victory against Japan.

Producers of the film said it took 17 years to gather abundant materials about that period of history. Some valuable sequences and secret files are released for the first time in the documentary.

It exclusively releases color video clips about the work of former Chinese leaders Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and Chen Yi at Yan'an, northern Shaanxi Province during 1944-45. It is also a rare chance to learn about people's lives in Yan'an, the wartime stronghold of the Chinese communists.

The film includes historical quotes from Evans Carlson, US Marine Corps general and leader of the famous Carlson's Raiders, and other war witnesses from all over the world.

Officials said it has been produced to highlight China's wartime contributions and its role in shaping the modern world.
