Doctors beaten after making computer entry error

Two doctors were beaten up by the son of a patient after one mistakenly entered the wrong name in a computer, xinmin.cn reported today.
The man, surnamed Zhang, took his mother to Pudong New Area People's Hospital at around 10:49pm on Monday after she experienced vertigo. Since her name was wrong in the system, Zhang allegedly couldn't pay for the check-up, the report said.
According to surveillance camera footage, Zhang first pushed a doctor, surnamed Wang, and then kicked him at around 11:10pm. He then met a doctor surnamed He, who was just passing by. Zhang slapped the doctor after exchanging a few words.
"I did click the wrong name. I started work at 8am and was still there at 11pm that day, almost without rest," Wang was quoted as saying. "It's rather simple. Just tell me the mistake and I'll correct it in the computer. But he just came to beat me, without leaving me any chance to explain."
Wang sustained a bruised kidney and waist, and slight facial injuries. He had a minor concussion, the report said.
"The physical injuries are not serious, but the psychological hurt will last longer," Wang, who has been a doctor for 35 years, was cited as saying.
Zhang was detained by police, the report said.
