Cold wave hits Shanghai as mercury to plummet by 8 degrees

A cold wave alert was released 11am in Shanghai today, with the temperature to be lowered by 8 degrees Celsius in 48 hours, forecasters said.

Tomorrow's temperature will range between 0 to 3 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday, a low of minus 2 to 1 degree is expected in downtown areas, with roads becoming icy.

The outskirts will have lows ranging from minus 5 to minus 4 degrees. There will be frost, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.
