China’s first 3D technologized heart surgery successful
The nation’s first intricate heart surgery was conducted successfully under a 3D endoscope at the Shanghai Yodak Cardio-Thoracic Hospital, the hospital announced today.
The 3D technology was first introduced to the medical field in 2014. It was initially used in general surgery and chest surgery but now is starting to be utilized in heart surgery, offering a clearer and more accurate view for surgeons, stated Dr Cheng Yun’ge from Shanghai Yodak and the chief surgeon of the cutting- surgery.
Doctors added that the patient is a 40-year-old man with a complex heart disease and a damaged heart valve. The 3D endoscope further ensured safety during the surgery and shortened the surgery to within two hours.
