China top source of MICE travelers to Thailand

Thailand received 120,684 Chinese visitors for meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition (MICE) events in 2014, more than any other single country in the world, a Thai official said today.
In total, Chinese business travelers to Thailand generated THB 10 billion baht (US$309 million) in local revenue last year, again more travelers from any other single country, said Nooch Homrossukhon, acting director of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau's meeting and incentive department. Other top source countries included India, Malaysia, Singapore, the US, Australia and South Korea.
"We are confident in the growth of the Chinese market, and in 2015 the bureau has redefined key strategies to target high quality corporate customers," she told a press conference in Shanghai.
During the first quarter of 2015, the bureau has handled 12,563 Chinese MICE travelers.
