Century Park caves into complaints over inflated fee to see Rubber Duck
Century Park’s admission fee returned to 10 yuan (US$1.6) after its officials were accused of profiteering over the arrival of the famous Rubber Duck artwork.
The popular giant floating Rubber Duck designed by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman made its official debut in the park’s Jingtian Lake today and will remain until November 23.
Ticket prices had been raised to 40 yuan, drawing a slew of complaints.
Some said the inflated fee was unfair and unacceptable because people in Hong Kong and Taiwan didn’t have to pay to see the duck.
Online commentators cried foul over the ticket price with one asking whether he could pay the park’s regular 10-yuan fee if he avoided the duck. Another poster said he would rather spend the money on a roast duck as it would cost 120 yuan for his family to see the Rubber Duck.
