Cabbies seek license
MORE than 60 unlicensed cabbies have recently applied for jobs with legitimate taxi firms following a crackdown on illegal services. This comes before the launch of a new initiative under which details of unlicensed cabbies held by police will be recorded on an online credit rating. Appearing on the blacklist may affect job and loan applications. Officers found that nearly 40 percent of the unlicensed cabbies working in the city had Shanghai residence permits.
