Airports brace for expo visitors
SHANGHAI’S Pudong and Hongqiao airports have opened specialized service centers, free shuttle buses and fast security channels for participants at the second China International Import Expo.
Delegates to the CIIE at the National Exhibition and Convention Center between November 5 and 10 can enjoy preferential services in customs clearance, immigration inspection, security checks and luggage claim through green channels at both airports.
Nearly 30 self-service security check channels have been opened at Hongqiao airport.
Four CIIE service centers have been set up at Pudong airport while another two have been installed at Hongqiao.
Staff and volunteers at customer service centers at the Pudong airport can speak English and Mandarin, while a specialist team can speak Japanese, Korean and Spanish.
The staff are equipped with a translation machine that can offer instant translation in 62 languages, said Shi Zhiying, head of the service team at the airport.
“Many foreign passengers from various countries came to the service stations to ask for help during the first expo, so we’ve largely enhanced our language ability to better serve the participants and tourists,” Shi said.
The Pudong airport has also opened free shuttle bus lines between the expo venue and the airport from 9am to 7:30pm every day during the expo.
