4 confirmed dead following building collapse

FOUR people are now confirmed dead following the premature collapse of a building during demolition this afternoon, a situation which is still developing.
The building, which was recently home to a bank and is in the process of being demolished, unexpectedly collapsed at the crossroads of Cao'an Highway and Huajiang Road in Jiading District about 3:50pm.
The collapse caused damage to a hotel next door which, at the time, had a worker and a family of three inside.
By 10pm, six people had been pulled out of the rubble, including a boy. But four of them were pronounced dead, according to the Jiading District government.
Electricity, telecommunication and cable TV are currently obstructed for some residents around the spot of the incident, according to the district government.
Rescue work is ongoing.
