Water consumption
Hangzhou consumed 3.48 billion cubic meters of water last year, equivalent to the water capacity of 243 West Lakes, the city’s forestry and water resources bureau said.
A breakdown shows 2.39 billion cubic meters of water was used by enterprises, or 68.7 percent of the total; 1.01 billion cubic meters was used by homes; and 790 million cubic meters was used for irrigation.
Meanwhile, the city recorded an average precipitation of 2,126 millimeters of rain or snow last year. That translates into 35.3 billion cubic meters of water or 2,469 times the water of the West Lake. The city has a daily rainfall enough to fill up 6.76 West Lakes.
