New expressways

Several expressways will either open or be built this year, the Hangzhou Transport Investment Group said.

Workers are paving the ground road underneath the elevated Airport Expressway, which is expected to open in June, the company said.

Jihong Road, which links Hangchang Expressway and northwest Hangzhou, is also expected to open in June.

The approach ramp to Jiangdong Bridge will open this year and will ease congestion at the Xiasha toll station on Hangzhou Raocheng Expressway.

Meanwhile, work will start this year on the Hangzhou to Shaoxing section of Hangzhou No. 2 Raocheng Expressway. It is scheduled to open at the end of 2018.

This stretch of the loop highway will start from the junction of Deqing County and Yuhang District and pass through Lin’an, Fuyang, Xiaoshan and Zhuji to end at a stack interchange with Hangjinqu Expressway in Zhibu.

This 100-kilometer stretch of the six-lane expressway will cost 21.5 billion yuan (US$3.44 billion) and ease traffic congestion along the western section of the Hangzhou Raocheng Expressway.
